The Boudoir Blog
Boudoir Client Turned Bestie? YES PLEASE!
Eleven months ago, I became a mother. My body underwent a transformation that was beyond anything I had ever experienced before. The changes were both beautiful and challenging, and while the joy of welcoming my first baby into the world was unparalleled, the journey of coming to terms with my postpartum body has been a slow and sometimes painful process.
There’s something truly magical about the connections formed during a boudoir session. It’s a time when walls come down, authenticity shows, and a bond that starts as professional often becomes deeply personal. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing someone who has now become a great friend!
From the moment she stepped into my studio, I was LOVING her energy! She held a bouquet of lush red roses, their petals as vibrant and bold as the energy she exuded. She joked about how her boyfriend had bought them for the session and how she should start booking sessions more to get roses! Funnily enough, my husband loves getting flowers so it was a random, fun little bonding moment for us! Those roses weren’t just a stunning addition—they were a perfect reflection of her fiery spirit.
As we started chatting, all her initial hesitation melted away. It’s something I’ve heard from so many clients over the years: “I felt like I’d known you forever.” There’s no greater compliment than knowing I can create a space where women feel completely at ease, where laughter flows as freely as the creativity in the room. Before long, we were swapping stories and cracking jokes like old friends, and the nerves turned into pure excitement for what was to come.
Her outfit choice? Leopard print lingerie that was so unique compared to anything else I’ve photographed yet. Combined with the red roses, it was the epitome of vintage Valentine’s Day vibes—bold, classic, and undeniably romantic. As I adjusted the lighting and posed her against the moody-inspired backdrops of my studio, everything fell into place effortlessly. The deep reds of the roses and the striking pattern of her lingerie created a visual harmony that was both timeless and modern.
What stood out the most about that session wasn’t just the stunning photos we created, but the connection we built. As the shoot went on, we shared stories about life, challenges, and triumphs. We laughed, we reflected, and by the end of the session, it felt like we had shared something truly special—something far beyond photography.
Today, we’re not just photographer and client; we’re Facebook friends! Can you believe we’re already planning her next session after only two hours together?! It’s these connections that remind me why I do what I do. Boudoir isn’t just about creating beautiful images; it’s about celebrating the unique beauty, strength, and stories of every woman who steps into my studio.
Every time I look at the images from this session, I’m reminded of how powerful it is to create not only art but also relationships. To my new friend and muse—thank you for trusting me, for bringing those unforgettable roses, and for letting your confidence shine. Here’s to many more moments of laughter, creativity, and connection.

Postpartum Boudoir
Eleven months ago, I became a mother. My body underwent a transformation that was beyond anything I had ever experienced before. The changes were both beautiful and challenging, and while the joy of welcoming my first baby into the world was unparalleled, the journey of coming to terms with my postpartum body has been a slow and sometimes painful process.
Alright, I promised to share after 25 images so here we go! 11 months postpartum…
After giving birth, I found myself struggling with how I viewed my body. The stretch marks, the softness where there once was significantly less softness, the loose skin – all of it felt so different to me. I had heard so much about the “bounce back” culture, about how some women seem to immediately reclaim their pre-baby bodies. But deep down, I knew that I wasn’t just trying to bounce back—I was trying to find my new self.
This journey hasn’t been about erasing the changes that came with motherhood, but rather learning to love and appreciate the new version of me. To acknowledge that I am a mother, a warrior, and someone who deserves to feel confident and beautiful, no matter what my body looks like.
The experience was transformative.
One of the most impactful elements of the these selfies was the sheer black draping I chose to wear. It was delicate and beautiful, yet it gave me the comfort and confidence I needed. It allowed me to cover the parts of my body that I felt the most self-conscious about, like my tummy and breasts, but it also beautifully highlighted the parts of me that I still felt proud of—the curve of my back, the softness of my shoulders, the strength in my legs.
The draping was an intentional choice to express the journey I’m on—not one of hiding, but of gently revealing. I was learning how to show up for myself, not by covering up every part of me, but by allowing space for both the vulnerability and the beauty that coexist in my postpartum body.
Through this shoot, I wasn’t trying to conform to any standard of beauty; I was embracing my own. For the first time in a long time, I saw myself as beautiful, not despite my postpartum body, but because of it. Every mark, every curve, every change was a testament to the life I brought into this world. The softness, the strength, and the power I felt in that moment were all part of the woman I am now becoming.
Learning to love my postpartum body has been a journey—one filled with ups and downs, moments of doubt, and moments of profound self-acceptance. This boudoir session didn’t magically fix everything, but it reminded me of how far I’ve come. It helped me realize that I don’t need to change to fit into someone else’s idea of beauty. I’m learning to love myself exactly as I am, with all of my imperfections, strength, and resilience.
To any mother out there struggling to accept the changes to your body, know this: You are not alone. The journey is hard, but it’s also one of the most empowering things you can do. I’m here to tell you that you are worthy of feeling beautiful, powerful, and confident, just as you are. Your body is a reflection of everything you’ve been through, and that’s something to celebrate, not hide.
If you’re feeling ready to step into your own power and learn to embrace your postpartum body, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Let’s make art, not out of who we used to be, but who we’ve become.

Miss J - 53 and FREAKING FABULOUS!
At 53 years old, she’s living her best life—and honestly, she deserves every second of it. She’s got that glow that only comes from surviving the hard stuff, finding the love of your life, and finally realizing you’re the queen you’ve always been. When she reached out to book her session, I could already tell she was my kind of woman. But when she showed up, drove 2.5 hours to get to my studio, and brought the kind of energy that could light up a room, I knew this was going to be a session I’d never forget.
Let me tell you about Miss J.
Her Story: The Queen’s Rise to the Throne
Miss J has a story like many of us do. She spent years hustling, honing new skills and talents in her career field, raising three incredible kids while juggling the challenges of life. And now at 53 gorgeous years young, she’s been shaped into the resilient, self-assured, powerful woman she is today.
Fast forward to now, and Miss J is spending these years with the man of her dreams. She described him with the kind of love that makes you believe in romance all over again—steady, kind, and head-over-heels for her in every way. She’s finally being treated the way she should’ve been all along, and she’s soaking in every bit of that love.
For his birthday, she wanted to give him a gift that would blow him away. And what better gift than a stunning, sensual album that captures every ounce of the incredible woman she is?
The 2.5 Hour Drive
Let’s pause for a moment and appreciate this: Miss J drove 2.5 hours to get to my studio. If that doesn’t tell you how much thought and care she put into this experience, I don’t know what will. She told me she’d searched for the right photographer for weeks, and when she found me, she just knew. That kind of trust? I don’t take it lightly.
She walked in with this air of confidence and as soon as we started chatting, it was like we’d known each other forever. We clicked immediately, bonding over motherhood, life’s curveballs, unexpected career paths that turn into incredible success—all cumulating into the best versions of ourselves that we are today.
Magic in the Studio
Miss J brought some absolutely stunning pieces for her session—elegant, bold, and completely her. And let me tell you, this woman knows how to bring it. She may have been a little nervous at first, but within minutes, she was owning it—hair flips, confident smiles, and the kind of energy that makes you stop and say, “Damn.”
We laughed, we got real, and we celebrated everything that makes her the powerhouse she is today. She moved through the session like she was born for it, and honestly? She was.
The Big Decision
When it came time to pick her images, Miss J chose a breathtaking 25-image album for her boyfriend. Every page told a piece of her story—strength, beauty, resilience, and the radiant love she’s found in this chapter of her life.
But here’s the thing: while this album was technically for him, it was just as much for her. The way she lit up as she looked through her photos? That wasn’t just pride. That was recognition. She was seeing herself the way the rest of us see her: stunning, powerful, and completely unforgettable. I mean, this woman literally gasped when she saw her first image (and that’s my FAVORITE reaction!)
A Lesson in Resilience
Miss J’s story isn’t just inspiring—it’s a reminder. Life will surprise us in good ways and difficult ways; sometimes, it’s just beginning of something amazing. You can survive the hardest chapters, come out stronger, and find the love, joy, and confidence you’ve always deserved.
To Miss J: Thank you for trusting me with this moment, for sharing your story, and for reminding me why I love what I do. You are pure magic, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of your journey.
To every woman out there: Whether you’re rebuilding, thriving, or just starting to find your footing, you deserve to celebrate the incredible person you are. Let’s create something beautiful, together.

How Shana Learned She’s Been ✨THAT✨ Girl All Along
When she walked into the studio, she had that "I’m-excited-but-maybe-I’ll-barf" energy we’ve all felt before doing something completely out of our comfort zone. When she told me she hadn’t felt the same since she had both of her baby girls, I think my jaw hit the floor. Here was this stunning, radiant woman standing in front of me, not realizing she was the dictionary definition of a showstopper. Spoiler: she was about to see it.
Let me tell you about Shana.
The first 10 minutes of any session are always a little wobbly. You’re standing there in your carefully chosen lingerie thinking, “What do I do with my hands? Am I smizing? What even IS smizing?” It’s normal. But the second Shana settled in, something clicked.
We cranked up the studio playlist—Taylor, because obviously—and started slow. A few jokes, a lot of laughs, and suddenly she was feeling herself in every sense of the phrase. Watching her step into her confidence was like seeing someone finally realize they’ve had superpowers all along.
Shana picked some incredible pieces for her session—a lacy little number that screamed “I am femme fatale, hear me roar,” and a silk robe so decadent it probably had its own passport. But what made her photos magic wasn’t the wardrobe. It was her.
We used soft, moody lighting to highlight every stunning curve, every perfect little detail that she probably never even noticed about herself. Those moments when she tossed her hair back with a laugh or caught herself in the mirror and actually smiled? Yeah, that’s where the real magic lives.
When I showed Shana her gallery, she sat there with her jaw on the floor, staring at herself like she was looking at a whole new person. And here’s the kicker—she wasn’t new. She was the same incredible mom boss she’d been all along. She just finally got to see her the way the rest of the world does.
There were happy giggles, “oh my godddd”, a lot of “Is that really ME?!” moments, and one very enthusiastic, “I don’t think I can wait until Christmas to give these to my husband!”
Boudoir is about seeing yourself clearly, maybe for the first time in years—or ever. It’s about taking up space, owning your beauty, and letting yourself feel like the reborn goddess you are.
Shana walked into the studio with nerves and walked out with receipts. She wasn’t just that girl. She was the girl. And now she knows it.
So, if you’ve been waiting for a sign to remind you how stunning you are, this is it. Let’s make some magic. Let’s show you the muse you’ve always been. And let’s laugh a lot while we’re at it, because life’s too short not to.

Jess – The Quiet Muse Who Became a Lifelong Friend
The first time Jess walked into my studio back in 2022, she was so quiet I almost thought I scared her off. If you know me, you know I have a big personality—loud, animated, and probably too much caffeine coursing through my veins at any given moment. Jess, on the other hand, was soft-spoken, reserved, and carried herself with a quiet grace. But sometimes, it’s the ones who say the least who leave the biggest mark on you.
I’ll never forget the way Jess studied the space when she walked into my studio for the first time. Her movements were deliberate, her words measured, like she was trying to take everything in while staying under the radar. And me? I was over here waving my hands around, cracking jokes, and probably scaring her half to death. I even remember thinking, “Oh no, I’ve already blown it.”
But then something magical happened. She noticed my Harry Potter tattoo, and her whole face lit up. She didn’t say much, just smiled and asked, “Can I take a picture of it for my husband? He’s going to love this.” In that tiny moment, the wall came down just a little, and I knew there was so much more to Jess than her quiet exterior let on.
A couple of weeks later, fate—or maybe just really good timing—brought us together again at the zoo. You know how you always think someone’s saying your name in public, but they never are? I thought the same thing until I turned around and saw her standing there! It helped that I was wearing one of my business t-shirts, but this was literally a part of the zoo my husband and I NEVER made it to because it was the farthest away from the entrance (my husband is a disabled veteran so long walks are tough on him.)
We spent the day chatting about life, future kids, and all the little things that make the world go round. By the time we said goodbye, I realized she wasn’t just a client anymore—she was someone I genuinely liked, someone I wanted to know better.
Jess has been with me through every stage of my business. She’s had a session in every studio I’ve ever owned—each one representing a different chapter in my journey. And every single time, she’s walked in and owned it.
Jess is the kind of woman who doesn’t just show up—she shows out. Whether it’s in a soft, delicate lace piece or something bold and daring, she always brings an energy that’s quietly powerful. She doesn’t need to shout to be heard; her presence speaks volumes.
What makes Jess so special isn’t just how stunning she looks in front of the camera (though, let’s be real, she’s absolutely breathtaking). It’s the way she carries herself—with humility, kindness, and a heart so big it leaves a lasting impression on everyone who meets her.
She’s seen me through my highs and lows, through studio moves and personal milestones. She’s cheered me on, trusted me with her story, and reminded me of why I started this journey in the first place.
I’ve watched her grow, too—not just in front of the camera, but in life. She’s the kind of woman who inspires you to be better simply by being herself.
Jess, if you’re reading this, thank you. Thank you for trusting me back in 2022 when you probably thought, “Who is this loud, tattooed woman, and why does she talk so much?” Thank you for coming back—again and again—and letting me be part of your story. Thank you for the laughs, the conversations, the friendship that’s become one of the most unexpected joys of my life.
You’re more than a muse. You’re a reminder that beauty isn’t just what we capture in photos—it’s what we build in the quiet moments between.
Here’s to the sessions we’ve shared, the memories we’ve made, and all the magic still to come. I am so grateful for you.
Boudoir is so much more than photos—it’s connection, courage, and a celebration of everything that makes you, you. If you’re looking for a photographer who will literally be your bestie until the end of time, it’s me. I’ll love you forever you adorable little cutie pie.

Seeing Myself Again – My Postpartum Boudoir Journey
As a boudoir photographer, I’ve spent years helping women embrace their bodies, celebrating their beauty and power in ways they never thought possible. I’ve seen countless women step into my studio with nerves and leave with confidence, tears of joy in their eyes as they see themselves in a way they’ve never seen before.
But this time, I wasn’t behind the camera.
This time, I was the one stepping in front of the lens. And let me tell you—it was one of the hardest, most vulnerable I’ve done since giving birth to my daughter. This time, I was the one in the center of the stage and all eyes were on me... I’d be lying if I said I was afraid after my body has changed so much.
Nerves, Fear, and the Mirror
When I decided to do my first boudoir session after having my daughter, I was overwhelmed with emotions I wasn’t prepared for. I was nervous in ways I hadn’t been in years. Would anything even fit? Would I look ridiculous trying to strike the same poses I’d coached my clients through hundreds of times? Would the camera capture the body I loved— or the one that didn’t look like me anymore?
I was terrified of seeing my images. Terrified I’d cry because I wasn’t “good enough” anymore. Because the body I’d come to know and rely on felt like a stranger to me now—soft where it used to be firm, stretched where it used to be smooth. I felt like I had lost something precious, something I wasn’t sure I’d ever get back. You’d think I would have been prepared since my job title is LITERALLY professional hype woman… but I wasn’t. I don’t think anyone can be.
The Moment of Reckoning
Stepping into the studio, I felt a tangle of emotions. There was a part of me that wanted to turn around and leave, to go home and hide in sweatpants where I could avoid mirrors and cameras altogether. But then, I thought about my daughter. About how I want her to grow up seeing herself as beautiful, strong, and worthy. How could I ask that of her if I couldn’t even see those things in myself?
So, I stayed. I let myself be vulnerable, let myself be seen, even when it felt impossibly hard.
The Struggle to See
When the session was over, I thought the hard part was behind me. But seeing the images? That was another story. At first, I struggled. I scrutinized every detail, every curve, every stretch mark. My mind was loud with criticism, cataloging all the ways I thought my body had failed me.
But then, something shifted.
I stopped looking at my body as something to judge and started seeing it for what it had done. This body grew life from scratch—an entire human being who didn’t exist before. This body carried my daughter for months, weathered the physical and emotional storm of childbirth, and has been her safe harbor every day since.
How could I not respect that? How could I not love that?
A New Perspective
As I looked at those images again, I didn’t see flaws anymore. I saw strength. I saw resilience. I saw a body that had transformed in the most extraordinary way to bring my daughter into the world.
I realized that my postpartum body wasn’t a “before” or “after.” It was a continuation of my story—a beautiful, complex chapter that deserves just as much celebration as any other.
What It Taught Me About My Work
That session reminded me why I do what I do. Boudoir isn’t just about beautiful pictures; it’s about helping women see themselves clearly, maybe for the first time. It’s about recognizing the beauty in what we often overlook, the power in what we sometimes take for granted.
Now, when I work with postpartum clients, I understand their struggles on a deeper level. I know what it feels like to stand in front of the mirror and not recognize the body looking back at you. But I also know how transformative it can be to embrace that body, to see it not as something that’s “not enough,” but as something that’s extraordinary in its own right.
To Every Mother
To every mom reading this: Your body is remarkable. It’s done things that are nothing short of miraculous. It deserves respect, love, and celebration—just as it is.
If you’re feeling hesitant, if you’re nervous about stepping in front of the camera, let me tell you this: I see you. I’ve been there. And I promise, it is NEVER as bad as your brain says it will be. In fact, it’s WAY better than you brain can believe yet.
Let’s create something that reminds you of the incredible woman you are, the incredible journey you’re on. Because you deserve it.

Embracing the Journey – How April Found Confidence and Self-Love Postpartum
There are moments in life that stick with you—not because they’re grand or earth-shattering, but because they’re so unexpected, so hilarious, so perfectly timed that they etch themselves into your memory forever. That’s how it was with April.
There are moments in life that stick with you—not because they’re grand or earth-shattering, but because they’re so unexpected, so hilarious, so perfectly timed that they etch themselves into your memory forever. That’s how it was with April.
I met April in 2020, before my best friend got married, and it was during one of those chaotic, whirlwind pre-wedding gatherings: the bachelor party weekend, that we really connected. We ended up at a Mexican restaurant, surrounded by chatter, queso, and margaritas, when the jukebox suddenly decided to bless us with "Hooked on a Feeling" by Blue Swede 1973 (if you didn’t know, it’s one of the songs from Guardians of the Galaxy… so I was obsessed with it.)
Now if you know ANYTHING about it, it’s that I love margaritas and I love singing. Put them together and it’s dangerous. I started serenading everyone at our (very large) table. Everyone went quiet, but not for long. Right on cue, April burst out with, “OOGA SHOCKA OOGA OOGA OOGA SHOCKA,” her voice breaking the silence like a thunderclap of awesome. And that was it—I was done. This woman? Cut from the same quirky, ridiculous, joyfully unhinged cloth as me.
At first, our relationship felt like one of those fun, fleeting connections you make during life’s big events—a shared laugh, a memory, a funny story to tell later. But April wasn’t one to just fade into the background. Somehow, through twists and turns, life pulled us closer.
We bonded over our mutual best friend, but what really cemented our connection was the way April just showed up—in conversations, in friendship, in her sessions. She’s the kind of person who’s unapologetically herself, whether she’s belting out ‘70s hits or coming up with the most hilarious burns I’ve ever heard in my life.
Fast forward a few years, and now April and I are both moms to adorable little ones who are growing up side by side. It’s funny how life works—how a chance moment at a Mexican restaurant turns into playdates, heart-to-hearts about motherhood, and endless texts about naps (or the lack thereof).
Motherhood is this wild, messy, beautiful thing that throws you into uncharted territory. One day, you’re pregnant and imagining what it’ll be like to hold your baby; the next, you’re staring at yourself in the mirror, trying to recognize the person looking back.
When April came to me for her boudoir session postpartum, I felt this deep sense of purpose. She wasn’t just trusting me with her photos—she was trusting me with her story, her vulnerability, her whole self. Helping her embrace her body after bringing life into the world was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career.
I understood her in a way I hadn’t been able to with clients before I became a mom myself. I knew what it felt like to live in a body that suddenly felt unfamiliar, to reconcile love for what your body has done with frustration over how it looks.
Seeing April step into her power—rediscovering her beauty, her sensuality, her self—was like watching someone take a deep, soul-filling breath for the first time in ages.
What I love about April isn’t just her humor or her bravery or her killer “ooga shaka” timing. It’s the way she shows up, not just for herself, but for the people around her. She’s a reminder that motherhood doesn’t mean losing yourself—it means finding new layers, new strengths, and sometimes, new friendships that feel like home.
April, if you’re reading this, thank you for letting me walk alongside you in this journey. Thank you for trusting me to capture your beauty and your spirit, for being vulnerable, and for reminding me that connection is everything.
Here’s to all the moments we’ve shared—whether it’s singing ‘70s anthems, navigating motherhood, or simply being there for one another. And here’s to all the moments still to come. You’re a gem, a light, and a forever friend.
To the moms reading this: Your body is a miracle, your story is powerful, and you are worth celebrating. Let’s create something beautiful together—something that reminds you of the incredible woman you are.

Silky Smooth & Confident: Hair Removal Tips for Your Session with Akron Photographer Kristen Jones Boudoir
It all begins with an idea.
Preparing for a boudoir photography session with Kristen Jones Boudoir in Akron involves various aspects, including outfit selection, poses, and, of course, personal grooming. To ensure you look and feel your best, it’s essential to pay attention to hair removal. In this blog post, we’ll explore the best practices for hair removal to help you achieve that silky smooth and confident look for your boudoir session.
1. Plan Ahead:
Give yourself ample time to prepare. Don’t leave hair removal to the last minute. Plan your hair removal routine several days before your boudoir session to allow any potential redness or irritation to subside.
2. Shaving:
Shaving is one of the most common methods for hair removal. If you choose to shave, make sure you use a sharp, clean razor and a moisturizing shaving cream to reduce the risk of irritation. Pay extra attention to the areas you’ll be highlighting during your boudoir session.
3. Waxing:
Waxing offers longer-lasting results compared to shaving. If you’re considering waxing, it’s a good idea to have it done by a professional to ensure the best results and minimize the risk of ingrown hairs.
4. Epilating:
Epilators are handy devices that remove hair from the root. They can leave your skin smooth for several weeks. Be sure to exfoliate the area before using an epilator to prevent ingrown hairs and maintain smooth skin.
5. Laser Hair Removal:
For more long-term hair removal, consider laser treatments. However, these should be done well in advance of your boudoir session, as multiple sessions are usually required for optimal results.
6. Depilatory Creams:
Depilatory creams can be used for quick hair removal, but they may not provide the same long-lasting results as waxing or epilating. Always do a patch test before using these products to ensure you don’t have a skin reaction.
7. Exfoliate:
Regular exfoliation is crucial to prevent ingrown hairs and maintain smooth skin. Gently exfoliate the areas you’ve removed hair from to keep your skin soft and irritation-free.
8. Moisturize:
Keep your skin well-moisturized after hair removal. Using a gentle, unscented lotion or oil can help maintain a soft and supple feel, enhancing the overall look in your boudoir photos.
9. Choose the Right Undergarments:
Plan your wardrobe for your boudoir session carefully. Select undergarments that don’t rub against freshly shaved or waxed skin to avoid irritation.
10. Consult with a Professional:
If you’re unsure about the best hair removal method for your needs, consider consulting a professional. A qualified esthetician or dermatologist can provide guidance tailored to your skin type and preferences.
Remember that your comfort and confidence are paramount during your boudoir session. By following these best practices for hair removal, you’ll ensure that you look and feel your best when working with Kristen Jones Boudoir. Your boudoir experience will be all the more empowering and enjoyable when you’re confident in your appearance.

One of the amazing perks about working with Kristen Jones Boudoir is our incredible Client Wardrobe.
Our Client Wardrobe (which is included in your Boudoir Session Experience) contains sizes XS-6X, averaging a total of about 300 total pieces at the studio. We have a variety of styles available like bodysuits, 2 and 3 piece sets, corsets, robes, and bustiers. If you're not sure what some of those things are (I get it, before I was a boudoir photographer I had NO IDEA what a bustier was), Google it! There are so many different styles and cuts of lingerie available out there and we try to showcase items to fit and flatter all body types and accent different styles and personalities. Also in the Client Wardrobe is a variety of high heels and jewelry including necklaces, pearls, and body chains!
We keep our Client Wardrobe clean and sanitary by laundering, sanitizing and/or dry cleaning each item between every single use.
Not sure about using the Client Wardrobe? That's okay! Some clients decide to shop around for lingerie to bring with them on the day of their shoot. Totally fine! If you do purchase or bring your own, we suggest nothing with print or pattern. When it comes to color, simple is best - it is also much more elegant and classy which is something you will appreciate in your photos!
I will say that 90% of the women who do bring their own lingerie end up wearing one or two pieces from our Client Wardrobe at the studio. By no means do you have to bring anything to your session - the only things we ask of you are to bring a black and a nude seamless thong, and any thigh highs or fishnet stockings if that interests you. We certainly love stocking looks!
