There’s something so full-circle about photographing someone you’ve known since the awkward, hormonal days of high school—and realizing just how far you’ve both come since then.
Miss K and I shared those formative years once upon a time, swapping stories in the hallways and navigating the maze of teenagehood together. Fast forward to now, and she walked into my studio as a full-blown goddess with three—yes, three—college degrees, the kind of self-assurance that radiates before she even says a word, and the same warmth and humor that made her magnetic back in the day.
We spent part of her session reminiscing about the old days (and marveling at how wild it is that we somehow survived them). But the rest of the day? It was all about her now. The woman who has poured years into becoming who she is—educated, self-possessed, and unapologetically beautiful.
Now, let’s talk about that little surprise she brought with her—courtesy of a very overzealous feline friend. Miss K showed up with a fresh cat scratch right across her chest. Did she let it ruin her vibe? Absolutely not. Did we both laugh about the timing? Oh, yes. And did I Photoshop it out like it never happened? You bet.

But I’m not in the business of liquifying bodies, erasing curves, or reshaping anyone into a Pinterest-approved standard of beauty. Because the point of this experience isn’t to make you look like someone else. It’s to show you how extraordinary you already are—exactly as you are.
