Boudoir Photography - Frequently Asked Questions
the thought of a boudoir experience can be scary. when i consult with clients before their session, i’m asked all kinds of questions, so i decided to compile a list of my 12 most frequently asked questions to give you some insight to prepare for your own boudoir experience!
Do you share my images?
my number one priority is making sure my clients are comfortable. boudoir can be a life-changing experience, but that also can make it nerve wracking! sometimes, this is a very valuable and vulnerable part of yourself and some clients may not be rady to share those images and that side of themselves with the world, or sometimes these photos are a gift to your partner and for their eyes only. these are all great reasons to keep your images private, and it all depends on personal preference! you can choose from multiple options: a full image release, an anonymous image release, or all images remain private. the choice is entirely yours.
Do I have to wear lingerie?
of course not! there are so many options of what to wear for your boudoir experience. it all just depends on what makes you feel sexy and confident. peek below at tatum, who chose some non-traditional outfits for her boudoir experience!
Do you have prepayment plans?
absolutely! all my clients love our prepayment plans. there is a booking retainer to schedule your session, and then we’ll decide what you’d like to put on your prepayment plan. the remaining balance will be due no later than one month prior to your session so there is no stress about payments on the day of - and no waiting for your images!
Is hair and makeup included?
due to the fact that some clients choose to do their own makeup or have their own artist they prefer, hair and makeup is not included, however the session fee is reduced to ACCOMMODATE this extra expense should you choose it (which i highly recommend!)
Do you photoshop my images?
i will edit your images for light, exposure, and color balance. i do not edit anything “out” that is a permeant part of you! i think it can be damaging to have a boudoir session done and then edit out the parts of you that make you yourself. Part of the process of accepting yourself and seeing your beauty also means not photoshopping the parts we don’t like, but learning to love and appreciate them. if there are parts you don’t love, posing and lighting will help reduce these concerns during your session!
Where should I buy my outfits?
there are a few places to buy outfits from! i personally love shein, amazon, torrid, adore me, aerie, hips and curve, and more! when you book your session, you’ll receive the wardrobe guide with links to some of my favorite pieces of lingerie + more!
What type of products do you have?
i offer a variety of album sizes, stunning metal wall art pieces, folio boxes and digital images. i absolutely love the feeling of picking up a physical print, it’s so surreal to see yourself like that! i like to say that the album is for your partner, but the wall art is just for you. seeing yourself at your absolute best every morning when you pass that portrait? an incredible boost to your esteem every single day.
Do you offer digitals?
All of my collections include some sort of album, wall art + digital images, but i also offer digital images via the a la carte menu. you can pick and choose exactly what you like and leave what you don’t!
I’m freaking out! How can I calm my nerves?
nerves are all part of the experience! i always say that it would probably be odd if you weren’t nervous! you may feel nerves in the beginning of your shoot will make that “wow, that’s me!” moment so much better when you see the back of the camera!
How many outfits should I bring?
you can bring as many as you’d like! two outfits are included in your session fee and you can add on more prior to your session if you’d like!
Should I arrive to my session early?
i’m a firm believer that on time is always five minutes early, but don’t feel the need to show up 30 minutes early! I like to give the studio a fresh clean right before your session, so there’s a good chance i’ll be vacuuming or burning some candles to set us up for the day.
Where is your studio located?
my studio is located 30 minutes from columbus, ohio in pataskala. my studio is 900sqft in my lower level of my home. two of my cats are part of the welcoming committee, so if you have an allergy, please let me know and i’ll tuck those kids away!
